The Opportunity:

 

We are partnering with a long-standing Canadian company representing leading manufacturers of sampling, analytics, and integration solutions for industries such as energy, natural gas, power, and mining. The company has built its reputation on deep technical expertise and exceptional customer service, from inquiry through to commissioning.

 

We are supporting them in the hiring of an experienced Outside Sales Representative to join the team. This person will be responsible for driving new business, strengthening existing relationships, and serving as a trusted technical resource for customers across Western Canada, with focus on customers in the Power Generation and Refining / Oil and Gas space. The ideal candidate combines strong technical aptitude with a natural ability to build rapport and close deals.

 

About the Role

 

This is a field-based sales position focused on top-line revenue growth. The successful candidate will develop new opportunities, provide solutions to customer challenges, and maintain a strong presence with both existing and prospective clients. The role requires curiosity, persistence, and the ability to translate technical strengths into commercial wins.

 

Key Responsibilities

 
  • Generate new business opportunities and drive revenue growth within the territory (Western Canada)

  • Develop a thorough understanding of products, markets, and customer needs

  • Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and emerging opportunities

  • Proactively identify and pursue new customers and applications

  • Conduct client visits, presentations, and product demonstrations

  • Engage in consultative selling to align technical solutions with customer challenges

  • Retain and expand existing accounts, ensuring excellent after-sales support

  • Prepare proposals and collaborate with inside sales, service, and technical teams

  • Maintain accurate records and pipeline management within the CRM

  • Provide input into reporting, forecasting, and strategic planning

  • Maintain strong communication with management and supplier partners

 

Candidate Profile

 
  • Proven track record in outside sales (5+ years), ideally with exposure to Power Generation and Refining / Oil and Gas

  • Diploma or degree in Chemical Engineering preferred; instrumentation, electronics, or related technical background also considered

  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation, analyzers, and electro-mechanical systems

  • Highly motivated, self-driven, and able to manage time and priorities effectively

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a consultative, solution-focused approach

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams

  • Flexible and willing to travel across Western Canada as needed
