Overview:
The Assurance Manager provides technical leadership on assurance engagements while reviewing work, mentoring staff, and ensuring high-quality client service. This role does not include traditional direct reports but involves coaching and reviewing team members assigned to active engagements.
The primary focus is assurance work for construction companies and non-profit organizations. However, the firm values flexibility, and managers are expected to support other practice areas, including tax during busy seasons (training provided). The firm is also open to candidates with a strong tax compliance background who are interested in a management role.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead and manage review and assurance engagements from planning through completion.
  • Review working paper files, financial statements, and related compliance documentation.
  • Review compilation, review, and audit engagements, including applicable tax filings.
  • Ensure client deadlines and project timelines are met.
  • Mentor, coach, and review the work of junior team members.
  • Resolve accounting and assurance issues with clients.
  • Assist with developing and improving assurance templates and processes.
  • Stay current with CPA standards, assurance requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Support tax engagements during peak periods as required.

What you must have:
  • CPA designation.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive public practice assurance experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience reviewing, mentoring, or supervising staff.
  • Strong experience managing assurance engagements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented, and client-focused.
Technical Skills
Experience with some or all of the following is preferred:
  • CaseWare
  • CaseView
  • QuickBooks
  • Sage 50 (Simply Accounting)
  • Taxprep
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • IFRS reporting (considered an asset)

Salary/Rate Range: $105,000–$120,000 base salary (flexible for exceptional candidates)
