Base Salary Range: $100000 - $120000

Overview:

Our client is an established and growing food manufacturing organization operating across North America. The Plant Controller / Finance Manager serves a critical leadership role, driving operational finance, cost accounting, and site-level financial reporting. This position oversees day-to-day accounting functions, develops forecasts, maintains internal controls, and partners directly with plant leadership to optimize operational performance. It demands an analytical, proactive leader capable of guiding a team through high-growth environments and system optimizations.

What you will be doing:

  • Partner with site operational leaders and executive teams to interpret financial results, identify plant efficiencies, and guide key business decisions.

  • Direct full-cycle month-end close procedures and prepare comprehensive monthly financial and operational statements.

  • Oversee core site accounting functions, including general ledger accruals, reconciliations, AR/AP, and inventory/cost accounting.

  • Build dynamic financial volume and financial forecasts, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow projections.

  • Perform detailed variance analyses and communicate actionable recommendations to management.

  • Maintain and implement plant-level internal controls to ensure reporting integrity and safeguard assets.

  • Assist with product cost estimations and financial modeling to support quoting activities and business development.

  • Lead, mentor, and foster professional development for local accounting and plant staff.

  • Ensure overall accounting operations comply with US GAAP and local statutory requirements.

  • Support upcoming enterprise resource planning (ERP) system upgrades and ongoing workflow automations.

  • Facilitate year-end financial and bank audit requests.

  • Collaborate across business units to share financial best practices, process improvements, and standardized reporting tools.

What you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (a recognized accounting designation such as CPA is a plus)

  • 5+ years of progressive financial accounting experience, with strong preference for candidates in a manufacturing or production background

  • Proven working knowledge of US GAAP and statutory compliance guidelines

  • Practical experience with cost accounting principles and inventory management

  • Proficiency with integrated enterprise software (ERP systems) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to collaborate effectively across operational and leadership levels

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and multi-tasking abilities in deadline-driven environments

Salary/Rate Range: $110,000 - $120,000 CAD + 10% Bonus
