On behalf of our client, TEEMA is seeking a TEMPORARY 13 week contract *remote* Field Service Technician for the Victoria, BC and Vancouver Island areas.
Our client is a manufacturer of healthcare/medical device products distributed throughout 40 countries worldwide. They assist healthcare patients with their accessibility needs with the products they create and distribute in long term care facilities and hospitals.
The Field Service Technician is project based. We are looking for a manual laborer. The work is to replace the brakes on ~800 beds located in Vancouver Island Health facilities. It's a straightforward repetitive mechanical task with some communication and customer service oriented skills required. Based on projections, work will take 13 weeks, though this may be extended as conditions at the sites can vary. Most of the work is in Victoria, with some out of town. Candidates need to be OK with traveling over night. A $95 per diem rate is also offered as an incentive for out-of-town work. The per diem would apply to overnight stays. One overnight = 1 per diem payment of $95. Day trips would not qualify.
We are paying $26-$28/ hourly Full Time+ 4% vacation pay and OT pay (if/when needed) for this position. It requires a background in maintenance, experience as a service technician or related experience. It is a mix of customer service (good communication skills), maintenance and repair and some administrative work to support their service team.
MUST HAVES:
-Able to work around at-risk individuals, including elderly, in-firm, and/or children. (Can PASS a criminal record check)
-A reliable personal vehicle (paid mileage) with a clean driver's license (minimal infractions)
-Willing to travel overnight. Specifically, you will need to be willing to spend Monday-Friday in Port Alberni and Campbell River, for 2 weeks in a row. (You will be home for the weekend.)
-Willing to use a company cell phone (provided), Windows based tablet (provided) and barcode scanner (provided).
-Living within a reasonable (~ 1 hour) daily commute of Victoria, BC.
-Physically capable of manual labor for an 8-hour day, including moving and operating a 100 lbs lifting device (it is on wheels).
-Understands the operation of a screwdriver, socket wrench, barcode scanner and Windows tablet.
-Capable of working without supervision, including following a timetable and checklist.
-Basic Excel and email competence.
-Customer service skills as they will be working directly with their customer, at their customer’s sites.
-Willing and able to work in a stressful environment (specifically, hospice, end-of-life settings, and acute care hospitals.)
-Knowledge of hospital infection control a bonus.
