Overview:
Our client, an established multidisciplinary architecture and engineering firm, is seeking a licensed Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to support commercial building projects from initial design through construction administration. This position combines hands-on mechanical engineering with project leadership. The engineer will oversee technical design, coordinate construction documents, manage project requirements, communicate with clients and contractors, and mentor engineering designers. The ideal candidate will have strong, current Revit experience and a background designing commercial retail or restaurant facilities. Experience with grocery stores, supermarkets, food retail, convenience stores, or other high-volume commercial programs is particularly valuable.
What you will be doing:

Lead mechanical engineering projects from design through construction administration
-
Serve as Mechanical Engineer of Record for assigned projects
-
Remain actively involved in mechanical system design and technical review
-
Develop and oversee mechanical construction documents and specifications
-
Work directly in Revit to support mechanical design, documentation, and coordination
-
Coordinate with architectural, electrical, plumbing, structural, and other project disciplines
-
Review project scope, schedules, budgets, phasing, and design requirements
-
Estimate engineering hours and manage work within established budgets and schedules
-
Coordinate permitting, bidding, RFIs, and construction administration
-
Perform quality control and peer reviews of engineering documents
-
Select mechanical equipment and evaluate appropriate design solutions
-
Maintain applicable client, project, and engineering standards
-
Identify and resolve technical and project delivery issues
-
Communicate directly with clients, contractors, and consultants
-
Mentor and support the development of mechanical designers and engineers
-
Help maintain strong, long-term client relationships
What you must have:

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
-
Active Professional Engineer license in at least one US state
-
Approximately 10 or more years of mechanical building-design experience
-
Strong, current, hands-on Revit experience
-
Mechanical engineering experience with commercial retail or restaurant projects
-
Experience working in an architecture, engineering, or MEP consulting environment
-
Experience leading projects from design through construction administration
-
Experience preparing and reviewing construction documents and specifications
-
Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and applicable building codes
-
Experience coordinating with architects and multidisciplinary engineering teams
-
Strong project leadership, organization, and quality-control skills
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work on-site Monday through Friday

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a licensed Mechanical Engineer who can lead commercial projects while remaining actively involved in technical design and Revit.This person will have experience supporting retail or restaurant facilities and understand the pace, coordination, and delivery requirements of commercial projects. Grocery, supermarket, or food-retail experience is especially valuable. The successful candidate will be comfortable taking ownership of projects, working directly with clients and multidisciplinary teams, reviewing technical documents, resolving project issues, and mentoring developing engineers and designers.
