We are seeking an experienced Inpatient Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric care within a forensic inpatient behavioral health setting serving an adult population, including individuals found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI).
This position offers a consistent weekday schedule, no after-hours or weekend call, and the opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary treatment team in a highly collaborative clinical environment.
Position Overview
The Psychiatrist will provide comprehensive psychiatric care to an average caseload of approximately 24 adult patients. The role includes direct patient care, psychiatric assessment and treatment, treatment-team leadership, court-related responsibilities, and participation in quality improvement initiatives.
The position is expected to be at least 25% onsite, pending leadership approval, with a preference for greater onsite presence.

Key Responsibilities
-
Provide direct psychiatric care to adult patients in an inpatient forensic behavioral health setting.

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, face-to-face evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment planning.

Manage an average caseload of approximately 24 patients.

Provide ongoing medication management and psychiatric treatment.

Respond to emergency situations and restraints as clinically required.

Lead and collaborate with a multidisciplinary treatment team.

Work collaboratively with staff Nurse Practitioners and other clinical professionals.

Manage approximately 1–2 patient admissions and discharges per month.

Complete required physician court documentation and provide associated testimony when necessary.

Participate in medical staff meetings.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including quarterly Quality System Overview (QSO) chart reviews.

Provide care to adult patients who may have co-occurring psychiatric, behavioral health, and other diagnoses.

Complete assigned responsibilities consistent with those performed by permanent facility physicians.

Comply with all facility policies, procedures, attendance requirements, clinical standards, and applicable state and regulatory requirements.

Perform additional physician duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Active and unrestricted Texas Medical License with no sanctions.

Current U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.

Ability to successfully complete required hospital and facility credentialing.

Current American Heart Association-approved CPR certification, maintained throughout the assignment.

Experience providing psychiatric care to adult behavioral health patients.

Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary inpatient treatment environment.

Ability to complete all required pre-employment, credentialing, background, and facility clearance requirements.
Preferred Experience
-
Inpatient psychiatric experience.

Forensic psychiatry or forensic behavioral health experience.

Experience working with NGRI or other justice-involved behavioral health populations.

Experience with court documentation and testimony.

Experience treating patients with complex or co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses.
