What you will be doing:

  • Assist Project Manager to ensure the engineering deliverables issuance meets the requirements of the project schedule, cost and quality and follow on needs for fabrication and site construction 

  • Responsible for oversight of the design activities to meet all requirements with respect to cost, schedule and quality 

  • Review and in many cases approve/accept engineering deliverables, documents, procedures, templates, contract schedules, etc. used to execute the project at the project management level 

  • Provide oversight and key input into the development of the Stage Gate Packages prepared with the intent to receive sanctioning from Owner and partner companies 

  • Provide oversight/review and key input into project documents, for example: 

  • DBM 

  • Project Execution Plan 

  • Construction Execution Plan 

  • Liaise with AltaGas regulatory personnel to ensure: 

  • Regulatory applications, documentation and permits/approvals are technically consistent with project design basis 

  • Technical compliance with regulatory constraints and approvals 

  • Provide technical input for cost estimate development 

  • Provide technical input for project schedule development 

  • Support shaping, development, quantification and decision analysis for project cost savings initiatives related to concept selection and/or execution strategy 

  • Ensure appropriate internal stakeholders are aware of intended project RFPs and evaluation support required from stakeholders 

  • Engage the Project Quality Lead for: 

  • RFP development 

  • Pre-award shop quality audit requirements 

  • Technical reviews 

  • Vendor scope award 

  • Vendor Kick-off Meetings 

  • 3rd party inspection 

  • Maintain and/or assist with the maintenance of Project Logs (RFI Log, NCR Log, ECN Log, etc.) 

  • Lead the technical development for engineering services, equipment, other technical/construction services and material scopes of work for bid packages 

  • Lead technical evaluations for equipment, services, and material bid packages 

  • Coordinate EWP process with engineering service providers to meet scope and schedule requirements 

  • Manage design changes to minimize cost impact such that only necessary changes are made as they apply to safety, code/spec compliance, maintainability or operability and that Owner's exposure to increased liability is mitigated, minimized or avoided 

  • Support engagement of internal and external stakeholders on the project 

  • Support ALA Project Manager with progress monitoring and oversight as it applies to cost and schedule 

  • Participate in risk mitigation planning as it applies to scope, cost, and schedule 

  • Implement technical lessons learned during the execution of the Project as they may apply to improvements for the execution of future projects. 

  • Provide oversight and input to the Ready for Operations Master Punch List (insert CSU software) ensuring that all deficiencies are clearly defined and potential impacts understood by all key stakeholders. 

  • Provide appropriate support to the Commissioning and Start Up (CSU) team to ensure seamless resolution of technical problems experienced during commissioning and start-up activities. 

  • Perform/support project close-out 

  • Contribute to identification of improvement opportunities related to engineering practices/processes 


What you must have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer 

  • Will also consider P.L. (Eng) 

  • Minimum 10 years industry experience  

  • Strong understanding and experience working with all engineering disciplines for oil and gas projects  

  • Technical depth in facilities and process engineering 

  • Experience of gas processing facility projects with an EPF component 

  • FEED and detailed engineering project experience is required (pre- and post-FID experience) 

  • Mix of both greenfield and brownfield project experience 

  • Collaborative and team-oriented; works well with SMEs and engineers 

  • Valid drivers license
