Rate: $100 - 125.00/ hour INC or Base Salary: $100,000 - $150,000
Overview:
This is a senior, hands-on design position for someone who can take high-level or loosely defined project information and independently develop complete drawing deliverables and Electrical Work Packages. The ideal candidate has a strong electrical foundation, understands what is required for an Oil & Gas electrical design package, and can work autonomously with minimal supervision.
What you will be doing:

Develop electrical design and drawing packages from preliminary project information, client requirements and engineering inputs.

Independently produce and maintain key electrical design deliverables, including:

Electrical equipment and load lists
-
I/O lists
-
Plot plans and area classification drawings
-
Single line diagrams
-
Motor control schematics
-
Wiring and interconnection diagrams
-
Cable schedules
-
Panel schedules and equipment layouts
-
PLC control panel layouts and I/O schematics
-
Junction box wiring diagrams
-
Electric heat trace designs
-

Design and develop electrical and control panels for industrial applications.

Develop complete Electrical Work Packages suitable for construction and field execution.

Interpret client standards, specifications, P&IDs and other project documentation to determine electrical design requirements.

Select and specify appropriate electrical and control components.

Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical codes, industry standards and client requirements.

Perform detailed QA/QC reviews of drawings and design packages prior to issue.

Coordinate electrical design requirements with engineering, instrumentation, controls, mechanical, piping and other disciplines.

Incorporate vendor information and equipment requirements into electrical designs.

Respond to RFIs and support design changes during fabrication and construction.

Work directly with project and technical teams to resolve design issues.
What you must have:

8+ years of electrical design experience, ideally within Oil & Gas, EPC/EPCM, industrial automation or heavy industrial environments.

Strong understanding of Oil & Gas Electrical Work Package requirements and deliverables.

Demonstrated experience independently developing electrical drawings and design packages.

Strong experience with control panel design, including PLC panels, I/O, wiring and equipment layouts.

Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, power distribution and instrumentation/control interfaces.

Familiarity with applicable electrical codes, standards and hazardous-area requirements.

Proficiency with relevant electrical drafting/design software.

Ability to interpret P&IDs, vendor documentation, client specifications and engineering information.

Strong attention to detail and ability to perform QA/QC of electrical deliverables.

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
