Overview:
The Residential Manager oversees the full residential electrical workflow from initial inquiry through quoting, scheduling, job support, close-out, and financial review. The role is responsible for accurate pricing, clear documentation, strong client and builder communication, job profitability, and continuous improvement of residential processes.
The position also includes hiring and managing field staff, working closely with other departments across the company, and providing technical guidance based on a strong working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
What you will be doing:
Reporting & Key Relationships

Reports to one of the company partners, who provides guidance on business development and residential decisions.

Directly manages the Residential Assistant, who supports administrative tasks and communication.

Works closely with the Residential Operations Manager to keep field work organized, scopes aligned, and jobs on schedule, as well as to evaluate and manage field staff and crew performance.

Collaborates with the Commercial Manager and Service Manager on company initiatives, fleet matters, shared projects, and appropriate handoffs of work.

Coordinates regularly with the warranty service technician on scopes, warranty information, scheduling, and related service or warranty work.
Lead Handling & Quoting

Receive and respond to residential leads and inquiries from phone, email, and builder referrals.

Prepare accurate quotes for residential work, including new construction, service calls, upgrades, panel changes, and related scopes.

Price service work, time-and-material work, and extras after the fact when required. Project Setup & Documentation

Review plans, redline drawings, and create electrical layouts.

Upload drawings, redlines, and job notes into Knowify once the basic job file has been created.

Build material lists in Knowify for handoff to the field.
Code Knowledge & Technical Support

Maintain a strong working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and applicable residential electrical requirements.

Understand and apply code requirements when quoting work, reviewing plans, redlining drawings, and creating electrical layouts.

Clearly communicate code requirements and technical information to field staff, builders, homeowners, and other project stakeholders.

Provide guidance on code-related questions and help resolve code or installation concerns that arise throughout a project.

Stay current with changes to the Canadian Electrical Code that affect residential electrical work.
Scheduling & Coordination

Schedule residential jobs using Google Calendar.

Maintain clear communication with homeowners, builders, and site supervisors throughout each job.

Coordinate with the Commercial Manager, Service Manager, and Residential Operations Manager on shared or overlapping work, including appropriate job handoffs.

Work with the warranty service technician to communicate scopes, provide warranty information, schedule service and warranty calls, and support communication with warranty teams as needed.
Financial Tracking & Review

Track purchase orders for accuracy and follow them through builder portals where required

Complete weekly time review and approval in Knowify prior to payroll.

Review completed jobs in Knowify for profitability by comparing actual labour hours and material costs against the quote and identifying any issues.

Monitor residential financial results monthly and at year-end, including revenue, material percentages, labour percentages, and profit. Flag variances and support corrective action where required.
Customer Service

Handle customer service calls, follow-ups, and escalations to maintain strong relationships and service standards.

Communicate professionally with homeowners and builders regarding scheduling, project requirements, changes, and technical or code-related concerns.
Leadership & Process Improvement

Direct and prioritize the work of the Residential Assistant.

Lead hiring, interviews, and terminations for residential field staff.

Work with the Residential Operations Manager to evaluate, review, and manage field staff and crew performance.

Improve residential processes, including creating Knowify templates and standardizing workflows.

Support company-wide initiatives and operational improvements as needed.
What you must have:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in residential electrical construction and be comfortable managing both the technical and operational sides of the residential department.

They should have a strong working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, be capable of reviewing plans and electrical layouts, understand residential estimating and job costing, and be able to communicate effectively with electricians, builders, homeowners, and management.

Previous experience as an electrician, electrical estimator, project manager, residential manager, or in a similar electrical construction leadership role would be considered a strong asset.
Salary/Rate Range: $70,000 -$80,000 per annum
