Overview:
The Claims Specialist provides expert claims management, schedule analysis, and dispute resolution support for the company capital projects. Working within the Claims Department, the role supports project teams in the assessment and resolution of claims, delays, disputes, and commercial risks across generation, transmission, substation, and civil infrastructure projects. The position applies specialized knowledge of claims management to evaluate entitlement, assess schedule impacts, analyze costs, and support negotiations and dispute resolution processes. The role collaborates closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Contract Managers, Project Controls, Legal, and other stakeholders to facilitate timely resolution of contract issues and promote effective claims management practices.
What you will be doing:

Analyze contract changes, delay events, and claims to assess entitlement, schedule impacts, and cost implications.

Review baseline, updated, and progress schedules to identify potential delays, schedule risks, critical path impacts, and compliance with contract requirements.

Conduct schedule and claims analyses using recognized methodologies and industry practices.

Review project records, correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, and other documentation to support claims evaluations and dispute resolution activities.

Provide expert advice and recommendations regarding claims entitlement, schedule impact, quantum assessment, dispute resolution, and commercial risk mitigation.

Support negotiations, mediations, adjudications, and other dispute resolution processes through preparation of analyses, reports, and supporting documentation.

Collaborate with project teams to identify, manage, and resolve contract issues during project execution.

Monitor and report on claims exposure, schedule-related risks, and potential commercial impacts.

Assist in developing and implementing claims management practices, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external consultants as required to support contract and claims management activities.

Support the preparation of claim assessments, negotiation strategies, and management reports.

Provide guidance and knowledge sharing to project teams regarding claims avoidance, claims management, dispute resolution and schedule risk management practices.
What you must have:

Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Law, Quantity Surveying, Finance, or a related discipline.

Min. 12 years of claims management, commercial management, or project controls or related discipline on major construction or infrastructure projects.

Demonstrated experience evaluating contract claims, schedule impacts, and dispute resolution matters.

Working knowledge of CPM scheduling principles and industry-recognized delay analysis methodologies.

Strong understanding of construction claims, dispute resolution, schedule impact assessment, entitlement analysis, and the contract provisions governing notices, changes, delays, compensation, and claims.

Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to prepare clear and well-supported reports and recommendations for management and project teams.

Proficiency with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office applications.

Relevant professional certifications or designations are considered an asset.
Salary/Rate Range: $61.00-$75.00 per hour
Term: 12-month contract; most likely to extend
