Hybrid | Professional Liability Claims

Our client is seeking an experienced Claims Examiner to manage complex professional liability and casualty claims from initial review through resolution, including litigated matters. This role involves evaluating coverage, investigating liability and damages, setting reserves, developing settlement recommendations, and communicating claim strategy to the client.

What you'll do

• Review policies and endorsements to determine coverage.

• Investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex liability claims, including claims in litigation.

• Work with clients, counsel, claimants, legal representatives, investigators, and other service providers to move claims toward resolution.

• Assess exposure, maintain accurate reserves, and recommend settlement strategies.

• Prepare detailed loss reports analyzing liability, damages, and next steps.

• Identify potential subrogation or risk transfer opportunities and pursue recovery at the client's direction.

• Maintain a timely claim diary and document correspondence, analysis, and decisions in the claim file.

• Support claim department projects and provide responsive client service.

What we're looking for

• At least five years of professional liability claims experience or an equivalent combination of advanced education and relevant experience.

• Experience independently managing complex claims and working through litigation, case valuation, and settlement.

• Strong knowledge of coverage analysis, claims practices, and applicable regulations.

• Sound analytical, negotiation, written communication, and decision-making skills.

• Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively with clients and other involved parties.

• California home-state adjuster license.

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.

AIC or CPCU designation, experience across multiple jurisdictions, and proficiency with Word and Excel are preferred.
