Overview:
Locumly is seeking an experienced, Board Certified Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant for an ongoing locum tenens coverage opportunity in Pennsylvania. This inpatient position provides critical surgical first-assisting and call coverage for an established heart team within a Level II trauma facility. It is an excellent assignment for a local clinician looking for a flexible schedule supporting an active surgical service line while the facility recruits for a permanent position.

What you will be doing:

• Serve as surgical first assist in cardiothoracic procedures, including endoscopic vessel retrieval.

• Perform inpatient hospital rounding, pre-operative evaluations, suture removal, chest tube insertions, and post-operative care management.

• Order and interpret diagnostic testing, diagnose and treat complex conditions, and manage patient prescriptions.

• Coordinate interdisciplinary care for adult cardiothoracic patients within the inpatient hospital setting.

• Participate in on-call coverage, including nights, weekends, and potential weekday call responsibilities.

What you must have:

• Board Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C).

• Minimum of 3 years of dedicated clinical experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery (not open to new graduates).

• Active Pennsylvania state PA license in hand.

• Active ACLS and BLS certifications.

• Clean background and malpractice history.

• Local candidates within commuting distance required.

Schedule & Setting

• Practice Setting: Inpatient surgical units and operating rooms within a Level II trauma center.

• Schedule: Coverage needed for night and weekend shifts, with potential weekday call coverage.

• Duration: Ongoing locum tenens coverage until a permanent hire is selected.

• Privileges: Temporary credentialing options available for an expedited start.
