Medical Assistant (MA)

Shifts: Monday - Friday either 9:00AM - 5:30PM or 12:00PM - 8:00PM

We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant (MA) to support a busy healthcare team by providing high-quality clinical assistance, maintaining efficient patient flow, and supporting providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments. The ideal candidate is organized, patient-focused, and comfortable working collaboratively with Registered Nurses, physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain and accurately document patient vital signs, promptly reporting abnormal findings to the Registered Nurse.

  • Room patients for providers and coordinate patient flow to support efficient clinic operations.

  • Perform accurate and timely data entry and clinical documentation within the electronic healthcare record (EHR).

  • Administer vaccines and other IM/SubQ medications as authorized and directed.

  • Complete point-of-care sample collection, including phlebotomy and specimen collection.

  • Assist physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners with examinations, procedures, and treatments as directed.

  • Prepare exam rooms, supplies, and instruments for examinations and minor procedures.

  • Perform ordered clinical procedures, including:

    • Cleansing superficial lacerations and wounds

    • Dressing changes and basic wound care

    • Ear lavages

    • Electrocardiograms (EKGs/ECGs)

    • Peak flow testing

    • Other procedures as ordered by the provider

  • Accurately document all patient care activities, procedures, treatments, and interventions in the EHR.

  • Maintain appropriate infection-control practices and ensure exam rooms and clinical areas are properly stocked and prepared.

  • Communicate effectively with patients and members of the healthcare team to ensure safe, coordinated, and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant education, certification, or registration as required by the facility and/or state.

  • Previous hands-on Medical Assistant experience in a clinical setting required.

  • Demonstrated experience with vital signs, phlebotomy, injections/vaccinations, EKGs, wound care, and point-of-care testing.

  • Experience working with electronic healthcare records and accurately documenting patient care.

  • Ability to recognize and appropriately escalate abnormal findings to the Registered Nurse or provider.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and patient-service skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative healthcare environment.
