Overview:
As part of the Corporate Finance team, the Senior Finance Manager, Accounting and External Reporting leads all aspects of the corporate consolidations process, corporate accounting and external reporting, equity programs, legal entity accounting, and related activities.
This role reports to the Director of Accounting in Corporate Finance and interacts closely with members of the operational finance teams and senior management.
This is a hands-on, technical role requiring public accounting experience. Some leadership experience is ideal, as the role may supervise one direct report.


What you will be doing:

  • Lead the consolidation process and prepare and/or review corporate accounting journal entries.
  • Manage intercompany transactions across all group legal entities, including operating, capital, and financing transactions. Oversee intercompany eliminations.
  • Drive special projects as assigned.
  • Prepare and analyze reports on consolidated financial results, including liaising with various operational finance teams to understand the financial results of the respective business segments, such as Balance Sheet Review.
  • Lead legal entity accounting, including working closely with the Tax team and Business Area Finance.
  • Prepare IFRS research, position papers, and accounting memos.
  • Lead month-end close activities, reporting processes, and controls.
  • Supervise one direct report.
  • Work with operational finance teams, Shared Services, and other stakeholders on accounting policy implementation and continuous controls improvement.
  • Manage financial consolidation and reporting systems, procedures, and controls, including assisting in the implementation of new systems.
  • Manage equity awards accounting and reporting activities.
  • Lead audit liaison activities with external auditors.
  • Build trust-based relationships through effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including operational finance teams, all levels of management, and other corporate groups.

What you must have:
Skills and Capabilities
  • Canadian CPA, CA; US CPA considered.
  • Proven hands-on IFRS experience; IFRS is a must.
  • US GAAP experience is an asset.
  • OneStream and Workiva experience; comparable tools will be considered.
  • ERP proficiency, with Infor LN ERP preferred; other ERP proficiency will be considered.
  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong sense of ethics and a team player.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and analytical skills.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities, take ownership, and drive projects and issues to completion.
  • Organized, autonomous, proactive, and demonstrates good judgment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
Experience
  • Minimum 7+ years of post-designation accounting experience.
  • Public accounting experience required; private accounting experience alone does not meet this requirement.
  • A combination of accounting firm and industry experience.
  • Multi-entity consolidation and multi-currency experience.
  • Experience in consolidation and reporting systems is an asset.
  • Experience working on or in the design of internal controls is an asset.
  • Experience with high-complexity projects, such as M&A activities, system implementations, capital and financing transactions.
  • External auditing experience or experience working with external auditors.

Salary/Rate Range: $120k - $165k annually CAD
