Overview:
Our client is a U.S.–based technology and services organization supporting mission driven federal programs. They are expanding their finance team and seeking a Senior Accountant who can manage complex accounting activities, strengthen internal controls, and support leadership with accurate, timely financial reporting. This role is ideal for someone who works well independently, enjoys improving processes, and is comfortable operating in a dynamic environment.
What you will be doing:
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger activity, AP/AR review, payroll coordination, and routine financial transactions.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles through preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Produce accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Assist with internal and external audit requests, ensuring timely documentation and follow-through.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to analyze financial results, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
- Improve and document accounting processes and system workflows, particularly within Jamis and related platforms such as Paylocity, Vestwell, and Employee Navigator.
- Participate in treasury activities, cash forecasting, and financial reporting initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls and company financial policies.
- Provide guidance and subject-matter expertise to colleagues across finance, HR, and payroll.
- Coordinate with the parent organization on intercompany transactions, reporting, and reconciliations.
What you must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including at least two years in a senior-level role.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and corporate accounting practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas) and hands?on experience with Jamis.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex reconciliations, payroll integrations, and benefits-related accounting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous-improvement mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
- High attention to detail, strong ethics, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
