Overview:
The Electronics Engineer will join the external transmission systems (ETS) team on new construction projects at the company Shipyards. Under the direction of the Principle ETS Engineer at the Shipyards, the Electronics Engineer participates in all phases of new construction design projects including: requirements decomposition, design, analysis, material specification and selection, engineering execution, and engineering close-out activities.


What you will be doing:

  • Provides engineering and design support in assigned areas of Electrical Power Systems, Electronics Systems by preparing design and calculation packages to ensure contract design requirements are met.

  • Develops design documents such as Electrical Load Lists, Electrical Single Line Diagrams, Cable Diagrams,, Interface control diagrams, termination and wiring diagrams.

  • Performs trade studies both formal and informal to determine the most efficient solutions to engineering problems and meet material budgets for systems assigned. Finds opportunities to reduce material costs below budget.

  • Develops material specifications and bills of material in accordance with the company material strategies and customer requirements.


What you must have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering is required.

  • 2+ years of post-secondary experience in Electrical, controls and instrumentation Engineering is vital.

  • Experience working in a heavy industry environment is required. Shipyard experience is desirable

  • Experience working with a diverse integrated project team is considered an asset.

  • Experience with system integration and testing, including FAT and commissioning.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal competencies

  • Able to obtain a Canadian Reliability security clearance.

  • Technical knowledge and engineering skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to develop solutions to complex technical problems.

  • Above average analytical skills to gather and analyze/synthesize data, confirming its accuracy and adequacy as an integral part of the collective analysis/synthesis process.

  • Strong technical writing skills including the ability to produce and present clear, detailed written technical specifications, procedures, and reports.

  • Knowledge of MRP, purchasing and management systems.

  • Good organizational skills.

  • Availability and willingness to travel to such locations and with such frequency as the employer determines is vital or desirable to meet its business needs.

  • Committed to a high standard of safety and able to align with all safety laws and all of the employer's safety policies and rules.

  • Demonstrated effective leadership and influence skills and practices.

  • Provides mentoring and technical advice to subordinate Engineers in the department

  • Exercise good judgments and make decisions in a manner consistent with the crucial job functions.

 

Salary/Rate Range: $42.00 -$51.00 per hour
