Overview
Our client is seeking a Regional Account Manager to lead and develop a team of Key Account Managers and manufacturer representatives focused on transmission and distribution utility customers.
This is a player-coach leadership role combining regional sales leadership, team development, manufacturer rep management, and direct ownership of a select group of high-value strategic utility accounts across multiple territories.
The successful candidate will drive sales strategy execution, strengthen account planning, improve pipeline visibility, support disciplined CRM usage, and help ensure the team is effectively representing a broad portfolio of electrical testing, monitoring, and power utility solutions.
This role will also work closely with internal business unit leaders, product specialists, and commercial stakeholders to support regional growth initiatives and improve customer engagement across the utility market.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Key Account Managers and manufacturer representatives
- Travel with team members to support sales execution, customer engagement, and professional development
- Review account plans for completeness, growth potential, and alignment with company priorities
- Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities across a broad technical product and service portfolio
- Support the team in presenting integrated solutions to utility customers
- Help resolve escalated customer issues to protect satisfaction and long-term relationships
- Partner with business unit leaders, product specialists, and internal stakeholders on account strategy
- Provide market feedback and customer insight to support product and business strategy
- Monitor utility market trends, partnership opportunities, and strategic regional shifts
- Set expectations around CRM discipline, KPI tracking, calls, visits, emails, leads, and opportunities
- Monitor pipeline health, support accurate forecasting, and provide monthly regional reporting
- Identify regional risks and opportunities and take corrective action where needed
What You Bring
- BA/BS degree, or equivalent electrical field experience
- 10+ years of relevant electrical, power, utility, or technical sales experience preferred
- 3–5 years of sales management experience preferred
- Experience working with manufacturer representatives is a strong asset
- Proven ability to lead sales teams and achieve regional sales objectives
- Demonstrated success selling technical solutions into the utility market
- Strong understanding of transmission and distribution utility customers
- Executive-level customer engagement skills
- Strong communication, organization, and reporting abilities
- Ability to work through ambiguity and manage multiple priorities
- Comfortable operating with minimal supervision
- Ability to provide concise, executive-level reporting
- Experience with CRM platforms, Excel, Word, Outlook, and related business tools
Ideal Backgrounds
The strongest candidates may come from backgrounds such as:
- Utility sales leadership
- Regional sales management in the electrical power industry
- Transmission and distribution equipment or services
- Electrical testing, monitoring, protection, or grid infrastructure solutions
- Strategic account management for utility customers
- Manufacturer representative network leadership
- Power systems, substation, or utility-focused technical sales
Why This Role Stands Out
This is more than a territory sales position. It is a regional leadership role with both people responsibility and direct strategic account ownership.
The right candidate will be credible with utility customers, strong enough to lead and develop a sales team, and commercially sharp enough to improve pipeline quality, forecasting discipline, account planning, and cross-business-unit growth.
