Overview:
The Application Portfolio Modernization (APM) Program is about maintaining the portfolio of software applications to the desired condition level which involves assessing, on a regular basis, the condition level of software applications (the technical and functional state of good repair), and taking upgrade, remediation, replacement, or retirement actions to ensure that all applications stay above the desired condition level.


What you will be doing:

  • Lead cross-functional teams and serve as the central point of contact for stakeholders, vendors, and technical resources.
  • Facilitate collaboration between the Business Analyst (who defines requirements) and the platform teams (who builds the solution) to ensure technical feasibility.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocations using tools like MS Project.
  • Manage the project scope, budget, and timeline to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Proactively identify technical and operational risks related to legacy dependencies and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee organizational change management, ensuring business units are prepared for the transition from legacy tools to new platforms.
  • Translate technical progress and roadblocks into business-relevant updates for executive leadership.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and signoffs with business owners.

What you must have:
  • University or college degree or diploma in IT, computer science or a related discipline, plus a minimum of 5 years experience managing IT projects.
  • Experience managing large and complex IT projects.
  • Knowledge and experience with waterfall and agile project management.
  • Strong skills in the use of project management software applications such as Microsoft Project.
  • Understanding of IT processes and methods such as:
    • Application and database development, acquisition, and maintenance processes,
    • Business software evaluation and acquisition processes.
    • Technology infrastructure product evaluation and acquisition processes.
  • Progressive technical knowledge and knowledge of best practices in Information Technology service delivery such as SDLC, COBIT and ITIL.
  • An understanding of financial management, capital budgeting, business planning and purchasing and contract management processes
Certifications:
  • Project management certification (either one of PMP, CAPM, CSM, PPM. MPM) 

Nice to have:
  • Experience of Application portfolio management.
