Overview:
We are seeking experienced Licensed Vocational Nurses/Licensed Practical Nurses (LVNs/LPNs) for six-month contract opportunities at a state-supported residential care facility. This position provides nursing care and clinical support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs.
Schedule

40 hours per week
-
Five shifts per week
-
4:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m.
-
Rotating schedule with every third weekend off
What you will be doing:

Administer medications and treatments orally, rectally, internally, and by injection.

Perform technical nursing procedures according to facility and state regulations after competency has been demonstrated.

Observe, document, and report changes in individuals' health or behavior.

Communicate pertinent information clearly and accurately to other members of the care team.

Maintain timely and accurate documentation in electronic health records or paper charts.

Respond to emergency situations and take appropriate action to protect the safety of individuals.

Follow all facility safety and infection-control procedures.

Monitor individuals receiving treatments and procedures.

Collect specimens for laboratory testing and conduct approved screening tests after competency has been documented.

Educate individuals regarding their specific health needs and goals.

Assist other staff with turning and repositioning individuals when administering treatments.

Ensure required medical and clinical supplies are available.

Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Work assigned schedules, which may include rotating shifts, extended shifts, or overtime when required.

Perform other duties as assigned.
What you must have:
-
Active LVN/LPN license in Texas or a state participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Computer and electronic health record proficiency preferred.

Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities and psychiatric or behavioral health conditions preferred.
Other Information:

Additional time off will not be available during the holiday season, including Christmas and New Year's.
