Overview:
Our client is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to plan, conduct, and direct the mechanical portion of engineering projects of major significance -- work that requires advanced knowledge of electrical/electronic packaging. You'll originate mechanical designs, apply new and unique techniques, and act as a trusted technical voice for management and other professionals across the organization.


What you will be doing:

  • Design & Development -- Plan and develop mechanical product designs, originating new and unique techniques using CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.)

  • Documentation -- Create, modify, and maintain product hardware and manufacturing documentation; ensure all documentation is complete, checked, and approved before release to production

  • Team Leadership -- Direct and lead the assigned project's mechanical engineering staff; plan personnel workload and scheduling for each job or project

  • Project Oversight -- Monitor engineering cost, product cost, and schedule for assigned jobs or projects; coordinate across departments on assigned work

  • Change Management -- Generate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) on jobs or projects as assigned

  • Quoting -- Develop the mechanical engineering aspects of quotes, including specification review for mechanical design and documentation, and estimating engineering design time

  • Mentorship -- Assist in training and upgrading personnel for greater responsibility

  • Process Improvement -- Develop new ideas and concepts for improving engineering operations

  • Representation -- Act as a Mechanical Engineering representative in outside discussions

  • Travel -- Travel as required for training, project support, product issues, or other design- or job-related needs


What you must have:

  • B.S.M.E. degree or equivalent

  • 6 years of mechanical design experience, including 4 years of electromechanical project design and responsibility

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.)

  • Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to advise management and other professionals
