Contract Length: Ongoing - Initial 26-week assignment with renewals anticipated
Hours: 40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Start Time: Generally between 6:00 AM-8:00 AM, based on operational needs
Rate: 54/hr local and 60/hr travel

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for an ongoing contract opportunity supporting a correctional healthcare environment. This is an initial 26-week assignment with renewals anticipated.

The RN will provide comprehensive nursing care, coordinate patient services, support medical providers, and respond to both routine and urgent healthcare needs. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing multiple clinical priorities, and collaborating with providers and other members of the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily RN appointments and sick-call evaluations.

  • Provide patient assessment, treatment, education, and follow-up care.

  • Perform and coordinate laboratory services and specimen collection.

  • Schedule and coordinate offsite medical appointments.

  • Complete transfer screenings and other required nursing assessments.

  • Assist medical providers with appointments, examinations, and follow-up care.

  • Coordinate and manage telemedicine appointments.

  • Review and implement provider orders accurately and promptly.

  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate nursing interventions.

  • Support ongoing medication management and continuity of care.

  • Educate patients regarding medications, treatment plans, chronic conditions, and preventative healthcare.

  • Coordinate healthcare services for patients participating in work-release programs.

  • Assist with release planning to support continuity of medical care following discharge.

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation.

  • Collaborate with providers and other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate patient care and follow-up.

Schedule Requirements

This position is scheduled for 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Some scheduling flexibility is required to accommodate laboratory services and work-release schedules.

The typical start time will fall between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM, depending on the operational needs of the center.

Qualifications

  • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.

  • Previous clinical nursing experience required.

  • Strong assessment, triage, medication-management, and patient-education skills.

  • Ability to respond effectively to medical emergencies.

  • Strong organizational and care-coordination skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with providers and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

  • Correctional healthcare experience is preferred but not required unless otherwise specified.
