Nurse Practitioner (NP)

Schedule: 4 days per week - 32 Hours
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM | Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday

The Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive primary and urgent healthcare services to adult patients within a secure correctional environment. Working collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, mental health professionals, and correctional personnel, the NP will assess, diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments, physical examinations, and medical evaluations.

  • Diagnose and treat acute illnesses, injuries, and chronic health conditions.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans.

  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests and laboratory results.

  • Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with Wisconsin regulations and facility protocols.

  • Provide preventive healthcare services, health education, and disease management counseling.

  • Respond to urgent and emergent medical situations within the facility.

  • Coordinate care with physicians, nursing staff, specialists, behavioral health providers, and other healthcare professionals.

  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in the electronic health record.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical reviews.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state, federal, and correctional healthcare standards.

Qualifications

Required

  • Current Wisconsin Nurse Practitioner license in good standing.

  • Current BLS certification.

  • Minimum of one year of Nurse Practitioner experience.

Preferred

  • Experience in correctional healthcare, primary care, urgent care, emergency medicine, family practice, or internal medicine.

  • Strong assessment, diagnostic, and clinical decision-making skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Experience working with diverse and underserved patient populations.
