Nurse Practitioner (NP)

Schedule Options:

  • Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
    OR
  • Four (4) 10-Hour Shifts Per Week

Position Overview

The Nurse Practitioner will assess, diagnose, treat, and manage the healthcare needs of incarcerated individuals within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. The NP will provide evidence-based medical care, promote wellness, manage chronic conditions, and coordinate treatment plans while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and healthcare standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, physical examinations, and medical evaluations.
  • Diagnose and treat acute illnesses, injuries, and chronic medical conditions.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic testing.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with state regulations and clinical protocols.
  • Develop and manage individualized treatment plans.
  • Monitor and manage chronic diseases including diabetes, hypertension, asthma, COPD, and other ongoing conditions.
  • Provide preventive healthcare, wellness counseling, and patient education.
  • Respond to urgent medical situations and collaborate with onsite healthcare staff to ensure appropriate patient care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, mental health professionals, and other interdisciplinary team members.
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

  • Current Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Wisconsin (or ability to obtain prior to start).
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Minimum one (1) year of Nurse Practitioner experience.

Preferred

  • Experience in primary care, family practice, internal medicine, urgent care, emergency medicine, occupational health, or correctional healthcare.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience serving diverse and underserved populations.
