Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) 

Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and professional Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our healthcare team within a correctional facility. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), the CNA provides direct patient care to an adult incarcerated population while maintaining safety, security, and confidentiality. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively in a secure environment.

Schedule

  • Three 12-hour shifts per week

  • Shifts scheduled between 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM

  • Every other weekend required

  • Holiday rotation as needed

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, feeding, and mobility.

  • Obtain and accurately document vital signs, height, weight, and other patient observations.

  • Assist nursing staff with patient assessments, treatments, and routine clinical procedures.

  • Observe patients for changes in physical or mental condition and promptly report concerns to the licensed nursing staff.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.

  • Prepare examination and treatment areas while ensuring adequate supplies are available.

  • Assist with patient transportation within the facility while following all security protocols.

  • Support infection prevention practices by maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary patient care environment.

  • Respond appropriately during medical emergencies and assist the healthcare team as directed.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and provide respectful, nonjudgmental care to all individuals.

  • Collaborate with nurses, providers, correctional officers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care.

  • Follow all facility policies, correctional procedures, and applicable healthcare regulations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the applicable state.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • Previous CNA experience preferred; correctional, behavioral health, emergency, or acute care experience is a plus.

  • Basic computer skills and experience with electronic medical records preferred.
