Overview:
The Procurement Supervisor supports the Procurement Manager in overseeing the department's activities. This role helps develop and maintain a workforce with the key technical skills required to ensure the successful execution and delivery of products and projects. The incumbent also manages various aspects of departmental operations, including resource management, planning, reporting, processes, performance metrics, and proposal support.

What you will be doing:
People Management

  • Supervise a team of Buyer-Planners.
  • Coordinate and oversee material planning and procurement activities in accordance with established processes and performance indicators.
  • Provide coaching and training to Buyer-Planners and recommend additional training when required.
  • Participate in the recruitment process and performance evaluations of Buyer-Planners.
Program Management
  • Identify procurement risks and issues related to programs or processes, analyze alternatives, and develop practical recommendations.
  • Proactively communicate and escalate procurement issues related to quality, delivery, and cost to the appropriate level of management.
  • Monitor the progress of procurement activities within the assigned area.
Supplier Management
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with preferred suppliers.
  • Identify, anticipate, and manage supplier-related risks.
  • Source and select suppliers capable of meeting strategic business requirements.
Process Development and Continuous Improvement
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and the implementation of new procedures.
  • Participate in and promote the implementation of best practices in material planning and procurement to improve operational efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery.
  • Participate in Operations vision planning exercises and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented as required.
Department Management
  • Assist the Procurement Manager with departmental budget planning and monitoring.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maintain and improve material planning, procurement, and supplier management performance indicators.
  • Assist the Procurement Manager with workforce planning, including reviewing staff assignments and proposing solutions to resource conflicts and constraints.
  • Perform other duties as required, including but not limited to leading and supporting proposals and managing small projects or portions of larger projects.
  • Provide leadership and ensure proper application of and compliance with company policies and processes by department personnel.

What you must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.
  • 10 years of experience in a procurement department.
  • Knowledge of electronic and mechanical technologies involved in space hardware production.
  • Strong understanding of ERP planning tools and systems.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage changing priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Strong sense of urgency with excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Bilingual in French and English, both written and spoken (required to transact with suppliers outside Quebec).

Salary/Rate Range: $90,000–$105,000
